Only a fifth of women see the same midwife throughout their pregnancy. My service provides you with a consistent and reassuring presence. Together we will work out the support you need and how I can deliver that, whether it’s ad-hoc or more regularly alongside your NHS or private maternity care.

You set the frequency of our contact and decide how this is best delivered for you. The lists below are not exhaustive but are to give you an idea of the ways in which I can support you. I won’t ever tell you what to do, but I will arm you with the information that will help you to weigh up your options and find the solution that is right for you, your baby and your family.

First Baby?

Feeling anxious? Lost or confused? Have loads of questions?

Not ready to tell anyone you’re pregnant, but looking for support?

Wondering if you should go private or not?

Looking for more regular contact, support and expert counsel?

Not sure if you’re ‘allowed’ a caesarean section or not?

Want to discuss breast/feeding options in more depth and get prepared?

Need help figuring out your birth options?

I can help you navigate the system and work out a bespoke support package to give you confidence and agency over your pregnancy. I can provide tailored 1:1 antenatal education and birth preparation for whatever type of birth you have planned (see FAQs for examples of topics offered).

Second or Subsequent Baby?

Had a previous difficult pregnancy or birth experience? Lost faith?

Need a space to be listened to and help you have a better experience?

You have been recommended something, but you need more information?

I will listen and work with you to identify the areas you feel you need more support with this time round. Having someone who knows you and your pregnancy will improve your experience, and we can birth plan together to maximise a positive outcome.

Previous pregnancy loss or stillbirth?

I can provide nurturing and compassionate support for everyone who has experienced the tragic loss of a baby. My familiar presence will help to contain your anxiety, and guide you through the journey of a new pregnancy and baby.

Your Emotional Wellbeing?

Worried about how you’re feeling?

Past experiences having an impact on your ability to enjoy your pregnancy?

Finding it difficult to bond with your baby?

Whether you are booked under the NHS or private care, I can discuss any concerns you have and support you to be able to engage with and enjoy your pregnancy. I can sign post you to appropriate services or mental health professionals if needed.

Are You a Partner, Co-Parent or Other Support?

Have loads of questions but too embarrassed to admit you don’t know the answers and need some clarity?

Want to know how best to support your partner?

I can provide a safe and supportive space to discuss anything that you want, and help prepare you for the pending arrival.

Grandparents

Navigating your way through becoming grandparents for this first time is tricky! I can help prepare you with a virtual session to consider the potential pitfalls and ensure that you feel able to support positively in your new role. We look at current baby care and safety recommendations, and also think ahead to potential areas of conflict (well meaning advice is often perceived as criticism by a tired new parent!), and how to avoid them.

Living Abroad?

If you are living abroad and are unsure of the maternity pathway ahead I can discuss what the likely care would entail for you here in the UK. I can help you to frame questions for your healthcare provider to ensure you receive high quality international care and can provide reassuring support virtually.

Postnatal and Breastfeeding Support

Having continuity with someone you know can help improve your confidence in the early days of new parenthood. I can trouble shoot feeding problems and help ease you in to the first few days and weeks, even if I haven’t worked with you during your pregnancy.

‘After several miscarriages, I was grateful to have Miranda on hand throughout my pregnancy. Knowing that I was able to have regular contact with a midwife helped prevent my anxiety from spiralling. She helped my husband too, and I think my mother would have liked a session with her as well’
