I am a practising NHS midwife in London specialising in mental health. Working in this field throughout the pandemic has given me first-hand experience of the increasing needs of both women and their families and is the drive behind me setting up this service.

Since qualifying with a first-class degree from Kings College London in 2014, I have worked across all areas of the maternity service, as both a community and hospital midwife covering antenatal, postnatal, and labour care. Over the past five years I have specialised in roles providing continuity and care to women with additional needs, such as social and mental health difficulties. I have also taught private antenatal classes for both The Bump Class and myself, and in the first year of setting up this service (November 2021-2022) I worked with 68 women and their babies and families.

I’m passionate about delivering high quality evidence-based and compassionate care and have undertaken courses outside of the NHS in counselling and trauma intervention to support this. I have attended hypnobirthing training and am currently working towards becoming a certified lactation consultant.

I have recently become a council member for The Nightingale Fund, a charity established in 1857, that exists to give financial support for course fees to nurses, midwives and community public health nurses.

‘I have worked with Miranda for over ten years and have always been impressed by her professionalism and compassion. She has a clear and empathetic communication style and goes over and above to listen and empower women by really understanding their individual needs.’
